Religious debate, I think, has a lot to do with modernity and the attempts of scholars or theorists to try and figure out what religion is and where it originated. Modernity brought a new way of looking at things, especially the scientific model of proof and so religious debates occur to try and understand the concept of religion as whole.

No no you are right and I fully agree that people should have religious conversations and dialogues and to educate one and other but there’s no need of arguing. Wallah the other one is not going to adopt your way of seeing things if I try to put him and his believes down and aggressively try to prove them wrong. That’s all I meant by the post :)
